Car found crashed along Wilmington Dayton Road

SUGARCREEK TOWNSHIP, Ohio (WDTN) – A man has been charged with OVI and failure to maintain reasonable control after police said he crashed his car along Wilmington Dayton Road early Monday morning.

A Sugarcreek Township police officer discovered the crash after finding Michael Hickey walking down the road near the intersection of Centerville Station Road just before 4 a.m.

He told the officer that he had been struck by a car. That’s when the officer noticed a car about 100 feet off the side of the road in a wooded ditch.

Hickey was taken to Miami Valley Hospital with what police said were non life-threatening injuries.

Hickey told investigators he does not remember what happened and refused to submit to sobriety blood test.

Investigators said they found a shoe matching his shoe in the vehicle.

It does not appear that anyone else was in the car.

The accident and investigation blocked traffic on Wilmington Dayton Road for about two hours.
