SPRINGFIELD, Ohio (WDTN) – The arraignment of a Springfield man accused of killing his girlfriend’s baby has been postponed.

An attorney asked for his Dorneil Cumberland’s arraignment to be pushed back while he seeks legal counsel.

Springfield police say Cumberland was baby-sitting the 11-month-old at this home on East John Street in March when he said called medics when he found a penny in the boy’s throat.

An autopsy revealed the child had been beaten.

Cumberland will now be arraigned Friday, June 13 on charges of murder and involuntary manslaughter.
