FAIRBORN, Ohio (WDTN) – Fairborn United Methodist Church is taking steps to end hunger.
It held its 4th annual “Feet For Food 5K Saturday.
The run holds special meaning for Angela Flatter.
She had her right lung removed after being diagnosed with lung cancer in June of last year.
The run is an important step in her recovery.
“This is near and dear to my heart because I am actually physically able to still be here by the grace of God and give back to my community,” said Angela Flatter, lung cancer survivor. “If you can’t do a 5K, if you can’t walk that far, get out and do something for your community or your church or the schools cause they could really use the help.”
Proceeds from the run benefit the Snack Pack Ministry for Fairborn Primary School.
Bags of food are handed out to kids in need on Fridays to make sure they have enough to eat on weekends.
