Turnpike stop yields a pound of pot


LORAIN, Ohio (WDTN) – Ohio State Highway Patrol troopers grabbed about a pound of marijuana during a recent traffic stop on the Ohio Turnpike.

Troopers stopped a 2013 Hyundai Accent, with Michigan plates for a speed violation in Lorain County on June 9.

Troopers said the detected an odor of raw marijuana coming from the vehicle, and found a soft sided cooler containing the pot during a probable cause search.

The driver, Lamar Chase, 38, of Wickliffe, Ohio and passenger, Karyne M. Toutant, 38, of Cleveland, Ohio were arrested and charged with trafficking in marijuana and possession of marijuana.
