Father stabs son at Springfield Dollar General

SPRINGFIELD, Ohio (WDTN) –Springfield Police is reporting one person went to the hospital after being stabbed last night.

Phillip Ferrell is in custody after stabbing Christopher Shufford at the Dollar General on Sunset Avenue.

Ferrell is Shufford’s step-father. According to a Springfield Police report, Ferrell and Shufford were arguing at their mother’s apartment. Ferrell left the residence with the Shufford brothers following closely behind.

At around 9:00 p.m., Ferrell entered the Dollar General to purchase a utility box knife, according to Nina Davis.

Davis, who works at the store, along with Andrea Jordan, Store Manager, witnessed the stabbing.

Ferrell asked Davis to call police, but didn’t tell her why.

Springfield Police officials are charging Ferrell with felony assault and obstructing official business. He refused to give a DNA sample.

Jordan refused to comment on the situation.
