Purse grabbing caught on tape

ENGLEWOOD, Ohio (WDTN) — Englewood Police released surveillance video of a purse grabbing at a store parking lot in hopes of catching the suspect.

The driver pulled up next to the 68-year-old victim and asked for directions at the Meijer parking lot on North Main Street. The woman was still holding onto the purse when the suspect grabbed it. She was pulled several feet by the vehicle before her purse straps broke and she let go.

“Fortunately the victim did not get dragged that far, but still being dragged that short amount of distance caused a lot of abrasions to her arms and bruised ribs,” said Englewood Police Sgt. Mike Lang.

The car has been described as a Maroon, early 2000, Chevrolet Monte Carlo with a dented left front fender. A man and woman were inside at the time. The vehicle possibly had out of state plates and no front plate.

If you have any information about the suspects, call 911.
