SPRINGFIELD, Ohio (WDTN) — A new $138,000 cooler will help a Springfield food bank this summer.

The Second Harvest Food Bank of Clark, Champaign and Logan Counties is unveiling their new cooler and converted freezer today. The new refrigeration unit will have 22,644 cubic feet of space, nearly four times larger than what was previously installed.

Last year, Second Harvest distributed more than five million meals, a 25 percent increase from 2012.

The new freezer campaign started last summer, and within the first 45 days the campaign already had secured $110,000 through an anonymous foundation.
