BUTLER TOWNSHIP, Ohio (WDTN) — Members of Dayton’s fire and police unions challenged each other by downing burgers tonight at Smokey Bones in Butler Township.

The rules were simple, eat the most and you win. However, it’s the charities they were chowing down for that are the real winners.

“If you think about it a bunch of guys coming out doing an eating competition for a good cause. You can’t really get any better than that,” said Smokey Bones General Manager Chris Wickline.

This year, the police union came out on top by eating more burgers than the firefighters. Both charities from both unions will receive the money. The specific charities will be determined at a later date. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
