Storm leaves damage across Montgomery County

Storm leaves damage in Kettering

KETTERING, Ohio (WDTN) – A few inches more to the left and a tree would have been an unwelcome guest.

The Cunninghams were returning home from Sam’s Club during the storm. As they pulled up to their apartment on the 500 block of Lamont Drive, they were shocked to see a tree blocking their path.

The Montgomery County Regional Dispatch reported several calls about downed trees and power lines after Wednesday night’s storm.

One of those trees would fall on Patterson Boulevard just north of Carillon Park. A tree blocked both of the northbound lanes before crews could push it to just one of the lanes.

Power lines were also damaged during the storm. At one point, Dayton Power and Light reported more than 4,000 people without power across their coverage area. More than half of that was in the area of New Lebanon.

Power was restored to much of Montgomery County by ten o’clock. DP&L estimated Wednesday night that power would be restored to all of their customers by noon Thursday. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
