URBANA, Ohio (WDTN) – Wednesday night’s severe weather may be to blame for a barn fire.

People who live near the barn in the 2,000 block of North Ludlow Rd. reported seeing lightning around 9:30 p.m.

Urbana Fire Chief Mike Keller said, “We have confirmed that there was lightning in the area and neighbors say they saw lightning then noticed the fire shortly after.”

The department has not ruled an official cause. The state Fire Marshal’s office is being called in to investigate.

We’re told several cows that were inside the barn were rescued. The structure was destroyed. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
