DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) — An 18-year-old was arrested after police said he took a phone and got into a fight with a man.
Marvin Thomas was arrested on charges of robbery and obstructing official business.
Police arrived to East Third Street after 7 p.m. Saturday and met with the victim who told them a group of males attacked him and took his cell phone.
Officers spotted the group of suspects walking north on North Jefferson Street. Police said the suspects ran.
Thomas was one of the suspects who led them on a short foot pursuit. Police said while they were chasing him, he threw a cell phone to the ground.
Thomas was placed into handcuffs once police caught up with him.
Thomas told officers the victim took his cell phone and then tried to hit him with a rock. Thomas said when the victim threw the rock, he dropped Thomas’ cell phone along with his own phone. Thomas said he picked up both phones and then ran with them. He told officers he was going to return the phone once the victim apologized.
Thomas was booked into jail.
The victim was taken to the hospital for his injuries.
