BEAVER, Ohio (AP) – The funeral for an Ohio soldier among five killed in what has been described as a friendly fire airstrike in Afghanistan is scheduled at his former high school.

Services for Army Specialist Justin Helton, of Beaver, are set for Monday at Eastern High School. Helton attended the school in Beaver, about a two-hour drive south of Columbus.

Helton was one of five soldiers who died June 9 in southern Afghanistan, while serving as part of a joint security operation. The Pentagon said Helton was assigned to the 18th Ordnance Company out of Fort Bragg, North Carolina.

Hundreds of people lined U.S. 23 on Saturday to honor the 25-year-old soldier as a procession escorting his hearse traveled from Rickenbacker Airport in Columbus to a funeral home in Waverly.
