Storm brings down trees, power across Dayton

DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) – It did not take long for neighbors to come help Ron Brewer get this tree off his home.

A quick storm packed quite a punch for Dayton Monday night.

“All of a sudden, it started raining and the wind was blowing the hardest I have ever seen it blow,” said Brewer. “You could not see the street, the wind was blowing so hard.”

Brewer says he did not hear the tree hit his roof.

Once the storm passed, he along with many others on the eastern part of Dayton saw the damage that was done.

“It’s unbelievable,” said Brewer. “Absolutely unbelievable. I see it on all these other people who have these big, gigantic storms come through. Nothing like this for us though.”

Sean Brothers was looking out his front window watching the storm.

Suddenly, his tree came crashing down in front of him.

“My car was in the driveway there,”said Sean Brothers. “It was about four inches away from the car. Five or six feet away from the house. It was close. It was real close.”

Clean up is already beginning for many people in the area.

Some of them are just thankful the damage was not worse. Others are happy to get a helping hand from those who weathered the storm.

“On both sides, everybody was out,” said Brewer. “The people across the street, they was all out. It’s a great neighborhood. Everybody watches out for everybody and takes care of everybody.”
