BELLEFONTAINE, Ohio (WDTN) – A Bellefontaine judge is worried about safety issues at the courthouse.

Our partners at the Bellefontaine Examiner report that Municipal Court Judge Ann Beck is asking the city council for money to hire three part-time bailiffs.

“I’d like to get moving on that pretty soon,” the judge told the Examiner. “I’d like to have them trained and working before the renovations so they can be there as the project progresses.”

Judge Beck asked the Ohio Supreme Court for a review of court facilities that revealed several needs.

She is now working with the city engineer to redesign the court’s interior. The court has $55,000 to use for upgrades, including a new roof, but the council must commit to hiring more security staff.
