URS introduces new therapy modality in Dayton region

DAYTON Ohio (WDTN) – United Rehabilitation Services (URS) Clinical Services Department added a cutting-edge therapy modality called the Universal Exercise Unit or “spider cage” to the wide-array of therapies it offers.

This device is a new proven Physical and Occupational Therapy modality first developed in Europe that incorporates a system of pulleys, weights, and bungee cord attachments that allow therapists to isolate and target specific muscle groups and use low-grade resistance to improve muscle strength, flexibility and tone.

“One of the biggest challenges we face in working with children who are chronically ill is that they literally need therapy for their entire lives,” said Dennis Grant, Executive Director. “This new piece of equipment will allow us to better meet the unique needs of the children and adults with disabilities we serve in our clinic.

URS is the only therapy clinic in the Dayton Region offering this cutting-edge therapy option.
