Man shot when trying to buy gun

DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) — A man told police he was buying a gun from another person when he was shot in the foot.

Police met with the victim at Miami Valley Hospital Friday around 2:30 a.m.

The victim told police he was on Germantown Street near Clement Avenue to meet a man who was going to sell him a gun. He said when the man arrived, he was messing with the gun, the gun went off, and he accidentally shot himself in the foot. The victim reported the seller grabbed the gun back and fled from the scene.

The victim was able to walk to a friend’s house in the 900 block of Haller Avenue. His friends then took him to Miami Valley Hospital.

The victim is expected to recover.

Police are still investigating the incident.
