DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) — Officers are looking for two suspects who rammed a fence at a Dayton auto shop.
Dayton Police were called to the rear of 133 Bircher Avenue around 1:30 a.m. Friday when a man reported hearing a loud bang behind his home. He told police when he went to see what the noise was, he saw a vehicle had crashed into a fence and two people were fleeing from the scene east on Gaddis Road.
When officers investigated, they found the vehicle had crashed into a privacy fence around D&W Auto Sales LLC on More Avenue.
Police said it appeared the suspects tried to back through the gate.
Police reported the vehicle was a maroon 1998 Chevy Tahoe. They said the headlights were still on and the vehicle was still in reverse. The keys to the vehicle were on the floorboard.
Employees at the auto shop told police they were fixing the vehicle for a customer. They said they leave all vehicles unlocked with the keys inside.
Police are still searching for the two suspects. Officers are still investigating.
