Local WWII vet honored at Dragons game

DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) – DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) – Miami Valley Native Richard Gard was honored by the Dayton Dragons and their fans.

Just three days after D-Day in 1944, Gard landed on Utah Beach.

Among his honors, the Silver Star, the Bronze Star and a Purple Heart.

After the war, Gard returned to civilian life, earning a degree from the University of Dayton.

He currently lives in West Carrollton.
