DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) – The Miami Valley is in line for some afternoon thunderstorms.

A cold front will move through the area today, setting us up for the possibility.

“People living in counties to the south and west have the best chance to see something severe”, said Storm Team 2 Meteorologist Jamie Jarosik.  “We are right on the edge of the severe potential this afternoon.”  Storms could start firing up sometime after 3:00 p.m.  High winds are our biggest threat.

The high temperature Tuesday is a muggy 88.

Spotty showers will linger into the evening and tomorrow, then the good news. The highs on Thursday and Friday will be in the upper 70s. Looks like great weather for the Fourth of July.

The afternoon storms come on the heels of some morning rain that caused power outages in Darke County.
