1 dead after motorcycle and pickup collide

PIQUA, Ohio (WDTN) – Police are investigating a fatal motorcycle crash along the Miami, Shelby County line.

Miami County Sheriff’s Deputies say a pickup truck was eastbound on West Miami-Shelby Rd. when it stopped for a stop sign. A motorcycle heading north on State Route 66 slammed into the truck as it pulled into the intersection. Deputies say the rider was killed on impact.

The truck driver was taken to Upper Valley Medical Center.

The motorcycle rider is identified as Joseph Stanley, 24, of Piqua.

The intersection was shut down for more than two hours.
