DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) — A police chase ended in a crash and two arrests in Dayton on Friday’s Fourth of July holiday.

The crash happened around 4:30 p.m. at Salem and Cumberland Avenues.

Moraine police told 2 NEWS officers tried to pull the silver Buick over but the driver pursuit and a chase started.

Officers followed the car into Dayton  where the driver lost control and crashed. The car landed on its top and caught fire.

Police arrested one suspect at the scene. A second person ran from the crash but was also apprehended by officers minutes later.

Inside the car police say they found digital scales, several small bags of marijuana packaged for sale and a loaded nine-milimeter gun.

The suspects Byron Pitts and Reh’Shon Walker, both 24 years old, are facing several charges including resisting arrest, drug trafficking and carrying concealed weapons.
