State troopers make 749 holiday OVI arrests


COLUMBUS, Ohio (WDTN) – The Ohio State Highway Patrol says it made 749 arrests for impaired driving during the Independence Day holiday weekend.

Troopers made 318 drug-related arrests as well.

The count was taken from Thursday, July 3 through Sunday, July 6.

It was also a deadly weekend. 12 people died in 11 traffic crashes during the same period. One was alcohol-related.

Troopers encourage drivers who spot an impaired driver to call #677 to report it.
