After 12 years of successfully hosting Flyin’ to the Hoop, Eric Horstman and his sponsorship partners have decided to start a prep football showcase using the same formula.

Each January, Flyin’ to the Hoop brings upwards of $2 million to the local economy.

Ohio loves its football and so the expansion of Horstman’s endeavors just makes sense.

“Having Flyin’ to the Hoop definitely gives you a little bit of leverage and credibility when talking to everybody else. I think that even you guys in the media understand what we have built with Flyin to the Hoop and we plan on doing the same thing with this Backyard Blitz. Like I’ve always said, we’re going to do it first class or we’re not going to do it at all,” said Eric Horstman, tournament organizer.

The inaugural Backyard Blitz will feature two games on Saturday, August 30 at Centerville Stadium.

The 4:00 p.m. game features Goose Creek out of South Carolina against Pickerington Central.

The 8:00 p.m. kickoff has Centerville taking on Glenbard North out of Illinois.
