Mosquito borne virus hits Ohio

DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) – Health officials say there have been fifty confirmed cases of the virus, Chikungunya in this country, two of those cases are from Ohio.

The illness gets its name from the stooped appearance of those infected by the disease in Tanzania and Mozambique. Its name translates to, “that which bends”.

Carried by mosquitoes, the disease can create major health problems.

Officials say you can prevent it by using bug repellant and avoid going out at dusk or dawn.
