DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) – The owners of a Dayton flower shop lost everything, but vow to be back in business as soon as possible.

Firefighters responded to the fire at Remember Me Flowers just before 4:00 a.m. Thursday.

It took firefighters about 50 minutes to put out the fire.

Headstones, flowers, antiques and a couple of especially priceless items were destroyed.

“We had gotten two posters from Katherine Jackson, Michael Jackson’s mother because we donated a stone to Gary, Indiana.  Those are gone,” said Bonita Saunders, office manager.

The district fire chief estimates damage at $200,000.  The cause appears to be electrical.

Saunders say Remember Me Flowers is a staple in the community.  It sits along Salem Avenue.  That is why the owners must rebuild, so it won’t be forgotten.

“We are still taking orders. We got to get through this week but its going to be fine.”
