DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) – Dayton’s open arms policy towards immigrants is apparently showing other areas how to create an environment that is comfortable for people from other countries.

Commissioner Matt Joseph has been invited to speak on a panel in Washington, D. C. about integrating immigrants.

Joseph said he will talk about the unique approach Dayton used by pulling together the Welcome Dayton program, bringing together 130 different people from all walks of life – education, business and non profit, to discuss how to make the Gem City a more welcoming region.

Dayton’s recent uptick in its population has been credited with its growing immigrant communities – a direct credit to the Welcome Dayton program.

Commissioner Joseph will join 149 others invited to speak on immigration integration Wednesday, July 16th at The White House. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
