DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) — A Dayton mother is behind bars for reportedly driving high with three children in her car.
Sherise Verdell was arrested on charges of child endangering and OVI.
Police stopped Verdell for a traffic violation Thursday evening on Terminal Drive.
When officers pulled her over, they reported smelling marijuana coming from inside her vehicle. Verdell admitted to police she smoked pot about an hour before they stopped her and told officers she was also on prescription pain medication.
Verdell was given three field sobriety tests and police arrested her for OVI. She refused all chemical tests and told police she would come back “high” if she took the test.
Police reported she had three children, ages 5, 8, and 11, in the car at the time. They also said none of the children were wearing seat belts.
Sixty-two-year-old Darnell Baker, Junior was also riding in the passenger seat of Verdell’s vehicle. The three children were released to the custody of Baker.
