DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) — A Dayton woman is arrested after police said she made false calls to 911.
Ashley Matthews, 25, was arrested on charges of making false alarms and drug paraphernalia.
Police were called to the 200 block of Huron Avenue around 12:40 a.m. Friday after someone called 911 and said a person had been shot.
When officers arrived, they made contact with a man and woman inside the home who were sleeping. The woman told police they didn’t call 911. She told police her son had been having problems with Matthews.
After realizing no one was hurt, officers responded to North Alder Avenue to talk with Matthews.
When they arrived, they found Matthews, did a pat down, and found she was carrying a crack pipe. Police then obtained permission to search Matthews’ purse and four cell phones. Police reported each phone contained numerous calls to 911.
Matthews admitted to calling 911 claiming someone had been shot on Huron Avenue to make her boyfriend mad.
Police reported in the past month, officers have responded to numerous false alarms for priority calls on North Alder Street, including another shooting, a sex offense, a stabbing, and a suicide attempt. Matthews only took responsibility for the most recent 911 call at Huron Avenue.
Matthews was booked into the Montgomery County Jail.
