ATV crash sends 3 to hospital

JOHNSON TOWNSHIP, Ohio (WDTN) — Three people were rushed to the hospital after an ATV crash in Champaign County.

Officials were called to the area of Smith Road near Kiser Lake Road late Saturday night.

According to deputies, 28-year-old Jared Williamson was driving a Polaris 500 Sportsman ATV Quad Runner east along Smith Road when he struck a utility pole.

Williamson was injured along with his passengers, 27-year-old Jessica Hackworth and 44-year-old Eric Weisenbarger.

Williamson and Weisenbarger were transported to Urbana Mercy Hospital. They were treated and released. Hackworth was flown from the scene by CareFlight to Miami Valley Hospital with serious injuries. As of 8:30 a.m. she was listed in critical condition.

The Champaign County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the crash.
