Motorcyclist dies after crash in Darke County

DARKE COUNTY, Ohio (WDTN) — Deputies are working to determine what caused a deadly motorcycle crash.

Crews were called to the 600 block of Hollansburg Richmond Road around 7:30 a.m. Sunday.

According to officials, 47-year-old Lance Powell of Richmond, Indiana was riding his motorcycle north on Hollansburg Richmond Road when he went off the right side of the road and hit a post.

Powell was thrown from the motorcycle and landed in a bean field. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Preliminary investigation revealed speed and alcohol may be factors of the accident.
