CENTERVILLE, Ohio (WDTN) – The Dayton area’s first Costco Wholesale is slated to open in November.
Oberer Companies announced the immediate ground breaking of construction after the deal was finalized Monday.
The 148,000 square foot store and gas station is located at the corner of Wilmington Pike and Feedwire Road at the new Cornerstone of Centerville development.
“The Cornerstone of Centerville’s strategic market location, easy accessibility and strong demographics were all key factors in Costco’s decision to enter the Dayton market with this site selection. Costco customers will come from 30 plus miles to visit this location,” added Chris Conley, President, Oberer Realty Services, Ltd. who brokered the deal.
Costco is a membership warehouse designed to give customers the best prices on brand-name merchandise.
It will employee about 200 people.
Our partners at the Dayton Business Journal say Milano’s Atlantic City Submarines is looking at opening a fifth area location at Oberer’s Cornerstone.
An organic grocery store will also open in the area of Feedwire Road and Wilmington Pike.
Fresh Thyme Farmers Market will open sometime in 2015.
We wanted to know about potential traffic issues with all the new development.
“Traffic is something we’re focusing on,” says Centerville City Manager Greg Horn. “We started to focus on that about a year and a half ago.”
Horn says Feedwire Road will be widened by the time Costco opens in November, but work on the Wilmington Interchange at I-675 will be on-going after the store opens.
