Firefighters focus on texting drivers

CINCINNATI, Ohio (WDTN) – Texting and driving is not just a problem with teenagers. The subject was on the agenda at the International Fire Fighters bi-annual convention in Cincinnati.

The first responders had the opportunity to review new firefighting equipment as well as the best practices to fight fires.

The event also gave them the chance to introduce the justify it campaign – asking drivers behind the wheel to think before they text.

Four Dayton firefighters are attending the convention. Spokesperson Gay Jordan from station 16 on Kings Highway said texting and driving is a teenage problem, but there is an increase int he number of adults who text and drive.
