Ohio charter schools under scrutiny

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) – Former teachers and students at a string of charter schools in Ohio plan to question the state school board over its alleged inaction toward the facilities in the wake of mounting complaints.

The FBI and other authorities are investigating schools in Ohio and other states that are affiliated with an influential U.S.-based Muslim cleric, Fetullah Gulen. The investigation comes amid allegations of test tampering, sexual misconduct and improper use of public funds.

But in Ohio, former charter teacher Matthew Blair plans to ask the Ohio Board of Education on Tuesday why irregularities he personally witnessed were not properly investigated.

Ohio has 19 of the roughly 120 Gulen schools operating around the globe.
