Teen killer sentenced for elderly woman’s murder

DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) – A teenager will spend at least 36 years in prison for the murder of an elderly woman.

Robert Jones, Jr., who just turned 18, was sentenced in Montgomery County court Tuesday morning.

He received a 36 years to life sentence and must serve the 36 years before any chance at release.

Jones murdered Take Gangloff, 75, on Norwood Avenue on September 13, 2013. Police say he was trying to rob her when he shot her to death.

A bus driver discovered her body and alerted the early morning shooting to police.

Jones tearfully apologized in court and said he was remorseful before being handcuffed and hauled off to prison.
