DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) – Dayton City Commissioner Matt Joseph is in Washington, D.C. right now.

He is taking part in a panel discussion on immigrant integration. Joseph is highlighting the Welcome Dayton initiative that promotes Dayton as a great place for immigrants to start their new lives in America.

The assembly is being held at The White House and will include key federal, state and local leaders in immigrant relations.

“I am honored by this invitation. This demonstrates that Dayton is in the forefront of issues related to immigrant integration,” Commissioner Joseph said. “I look forward to meeting our federal, state and local partners and I hope this event will both showcase Dayton’s leadership in this area and provide us with new ideas we can use.”

Joseph headed up the creation of Welcome Dayton. It works to help immigrants with language barriers, business savvy, education and housing needs.
