2 separate accidents shut down a portion of US 35

DAYTON , Ohio (WDTN) – US 35 in Dayton has reopened after being shut down for nearly four hours because of two separate accidents.

Police told 2 NEWS an eastbound car crossed the median and hit a motorcycle just before 7:00 Friday night.

The man driving the motorcycle suffered a leg injury and police said the driver of the car was seriously injured.

Two children in the car were also hurt, but their injuries are not believed to be serious.

While that crash was being investigated, another car traveling westbound crossed over the median and hit a light pole, knocking it over.

That driver’s injuries were not serious.

Police investigated the cause to both crashes as possibly weather related, with a combination of the rain and oil on the roadway creating slick conditions.

All lanes in both directions were closed between Abbey Avenue and James H. McGee Boulevard until shortly before 11 pm.
