Armed suspect leaves Family Dollar empty-handed

DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) — Police are looking for an armed man who tried to rob a Family Dollar store.

It happened at the Family Dollar located at 1125 Wayne Avenue around 5:45 p.m. Friday.

The cashier told police she had just finished ringing up a customer when the suspect came up front behind her with a gun and demanded her to open the register. When she told the suspect she couldn’t, he walked out of the store and fled the scene.

The suspect did not get away with any money.

A K9 was called to the area to track the suspect. The track led police on Theobald Street and then down an alley near Clover Street. The K9 lost the scent on Clover Street near a vacant garage.
