DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) — A Dayton man arrested on drug charges reportedly tries to escape police.

Joshua Cooper, 26, was arrested on charges of possession of and trafficking in drugs, vandalism, and escape.

Police were called to an apartment in the 400 block of Quitman Street around 9:45 p.m. Thursday for a drugs complaint.

When officers searched the apartment, they found several empty gel caps and a razor blade with heroin residue on the coffee table. Police also found a digital scale and a large bag containing hundreds of empty gel caps.

Officers arrested Cooper and placed him into a cruiser. According to the report, Cooper kicked out the rear passenger window of the cruiser and ran from the scene. Officers caught up with him hiding in a vacant house on Hawker Street.

Cooper was taken back into custody.

Cooper had been arrested a week earlier for possession of heroin and drug trafficking after police reported he was trying to sell heroin less than a block away from the Quitman Street apartment.

He was booked into the Montgomery County Jail.
