Saturation patrols net two OVI arrests

DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) — Officials arrest two people for drunk driving after holding a checkpoint and saturation patrols Saturday night.

The OVI checkpoint was held starting at 10 p.m. in the area of North Gettysburg Avenue and Kings Highway.

Officials reported 294 cars passed through the checkpoint. Of those vehicles, 35 were diverted and three were checked for OVI but none of those drivers were arrested. Two people were arrested for OVI in a nearby saturation patrol.

While police were patrolling the area, they made 16 traffic stops. In total, nine people were found driving without a license and 18 were driving under suspension. Eight people were issued seat belt citations. Four drivers were given violations for child safety seats. One person was arrested for drugs, in which more than $6,000 was seized. One person was issued an open container violation. Six other citations were issued.
