DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) – Rain didn’t stop some area students from encouraging you to register to vote.

About 250 children braved the elements on Dayton’s Courthouse Square to promote community involvement and the importance of voting.

The Montgomery County Freedom Schools Collaborative hosted the event.

The students handed out voter registration cards and listened to speeches from local leaders.

Most participants attend six local Freedom Schools where they learn to be responsible citizens.
