WASHINGTON (WDTN) – The Sugarcreek Township Fire Department has been awarded $850,250 by the federal government, U.S. Senator Sherrod Brown (D-OH) announced Wednesday.

The $850,250 grant is for vehicle acquisition.

“Firefighters put their lives on the line each day to keep our communities safe,” Brown said. “These new federal resources will help ensure that Sugarcreek Township’s skilled responders have the resources they need to safely do their jobs.”

The funds come through the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Federal Emergency Management Agency Assistance to Firefighters Grants program.

Fire apparatus funded in the vehicle acquisition category include pumpers, aerials, brush trucks, tankers/tenders, rescue vehicles, and ambulances.
