HARRISON TOWNSHIP, Ohio (WDTN) – Deputies say a man dropped a loaded gun as he was running away from them.

Deputies on patrol first encountered the man at the corner of Salem Avenue and Free Pike just after midnight on Wednesday. As they approached him, they say he took off running.

As he ran though a parking lot at the corner of Salem Ave. and Gettysburg Ave., he dropped something. Deputies say it was a semi-automatic handgun and it was loaded.

They brought in a K-9 unit and spent several hours searching the area, but did not find the suspect. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
