SUGARCREEK TWP., Ohio (WDTN) – The search for a lost dog is demonstrating the power of social media.

Cooper is missing. He disappeared from his yard on Murphy’s Crossing Monday. While his owners hope he simply jumped the fence and got lost, they worry about whether Cooper was dognapped.

Ann McDonough owns the silver labrador. She says she cannot believe the outpouring of support from the community since she posted his disappearance on line.

She says she has met people while out looking for the dog who know his name without ever having met him. She credits Facebook for spreading the word of Cooper’s disappearance.  “The not-knowing is maddening,” said McDonough.

McDonough says Cooper weighs about 75 pounds and has a distinctive silver color. He is one year old and disappeared in the Afton Woods neighborhood in Sugarcreek Township/Bellbrook along Little Sugarcreek Road.

McDonough says a search expert is bringing his bloodhounds to the neighborhood Saturday morning to try and pick up the dog’s trail. If the dogs lose the scent trail, it most likely means the dog was stolen.

McDonough is offering a $1,000 reward for Cooper’s return.
