Firefighter injured battling vacant house fire

SPRINGFIELD, Ohio (WDTN) – A Springfield firefighter was hurt while battling a fire Friday morning.

Crews were called to 622 High Street around 9:00 a.m.

Investigators say the fire did heavy damage to the back of the vacant house.  They are now looking for two teenagers who they believe started the fire.  The teens were seen fleeing on their bicycles.

The firefighter apparently suffered injuries to his leg.  He is being treated at the hospital.

2 NEWS took calls about a huge plume of smoke billowing into the sky.

An investigation is underway.
