1 dead, 1 critical in Miami Township crash

MIAMI TOWNSHIP, Ohio (WDTN) — A deadly crash closed down a southern Montgomery County roadway late Friday night.

The crash happened just before 11 p.m. at Springboro Pike under the I-675 overpass in Miami Township. Ohio State Highway Patrol said a black Cadillac Escalade went left of center and collided with a convertible Pontiac G6 head-on.

The driver of the Cadillac Escalade, Travis Hawkey was taken to Kettering Medical Center with life-threatening injuries. The driver of the Pontiac G6 Thomas Zamzow was taken to Kettering Medical Center where he later died.

State troopers are still investigating and charges are pending. Officials are also looking into whether drugs and alcohol were involved.
