DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) — Police say a drunk man trespassing outside of an alcohol recovery business is now facing additional charges.

Jeffery Smith, 45, was arrested on charges of aggravated menacing.

Police were called to the Alco Aides located at 2206 East Third Street around 8:15 p.m. Saturday after the manager reported Smith was intoxicated and trespassing on the property.

Officers said Smith became agitated when they detained him. When officers asked where they could take him, he wasn’t able to provide them with an address. Police told Smith they were going to take him to the hospital since he was so intoxicated and they couldn’t just let him go. Officers said that’s when he became belligerent and screamed at them threatening to beat them. Police said because of his threats he was making he was going to be transported to jail for aggravated menacing.

Smith continued to call the officers names and threatened them saying, “I will beat you to death.”

Smith was booked into jail on two counts of aggravated menacing. Smith is expected to appear in court Monday.
