Golf club rises from the ashes

BELLBROOK, Ohio (WDTN) – Despite two major fires two months apart, the Sugar Valley Golf Club in Bellbrook is rising form the ashes.

The club has a member base that would envy a political party. Club general manager, Maura Dashewich says since the fires burned the historic barn and club house in May and July, business has actually increased.

The grounds sport a hug mobile kitchen and bathroom and a tent for activities, so Thursday was a success for its annual Member-Guest Day.

Golfer/member Fred Cramer says, “today isn’t about golf, it’s about the Sugar Valley community, golfers, managers and pro shop – it’s an opportunity, not a disaster.”

With that same spirit, nearly 100 members and guests showed up for the big event.

Dashewich says what is most important for golfers is the course is in great shape, and has a new fleet of cars.
