Woman claims fake deputy came knocking

DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) – A Dayton woman says she was visited by a fake deputy and prosecutor.

In a police report, the woman says a man who appeared to be dressed in a law enforcement uniform and another man knocked on her Speice Avenue home Wednesday afternoon.

The other man claimed he was with the prosecutor’s office and told her they were there to settle a debt she owed.

The report says the the men tried to hand the woman some papers, but she would not open the door to take them.

The men left, but the report says she then got a phone call demanding $1,500 to cover the debt.

The victim reportedly gave the caller her credit card number, but she soon realized she was the victim of an apparent scam.

She canceled the card and lost no money.

The suspect in the uniform is described as in his 40s, 6’2″, 185 lbs with brown hair. She said he had what appeared to be a police jacket and police belt, but couldn’t tell whether it was a gun or a radio strapped to it.

The second suspect is described as in his 40s, 6’3″, 165 pounds with black hair. He is also said to have a dark tan.
