QUINCY, Ohio (WDTN) – The pilot of an ultralight aircraft killed in a crash late Saturday has been identified.

The Marysville Patrol Post for the Ohio State Highway Patrol confirmed 31-year-old Eric Giles of De Graff Ohio died after crashing in Logan County Saturday night.

Troopers were called out to the Great Miami River on the north edge of Quincy around 9:30 p.m.

Investigators say Giles lost control about 100 feet off the ground, apparently clipping a tree.  He crashed into the river.

The Logan County Sheriff’s Office is also investigating the crash. The FAA was on the scene investigating Sunday morning.
