MADISON TWP., Ohio (WDTN) – Officials with the Butler County Coroner’s Office have ruled the death of Cindy Whisman accidental.
The 59-year-old died Monday after a family dog killed Whisman. The report notes that the primary cause of death is “due to dog bites.”
Butler County Sheriff’s deputies were called to the home on the 4700 block of Eck Road.
Deputies confirmed that the woman was killed by her daughter’s pit bull.
Deputies said Whisman was in her backyard with her daughter, Julie’s two-year-old son when the dog attacked her.
“He loved my son. He would never hurt my son. They played together– my son would sit on him, lay on him. Smack him in the face. He wouldn’t do anything,” said Julie Whisman.
Whisman said the pitbull, Polo, has been with her since he was six weeks old.
Butler County dog wardens removed the 5-year-old pitbull, and another dog– a German Shepard-Lab mix.
No word yet on what will happen to either animal.
